Once Upon a Time…
There was a little girl who wanted to tell stories and paint pretty pictures. She loved nature and was always in awe of the beautiful colours around her. Unfortunately, although they knew she was a kind and gentle child, her teachers wanted her to spend less time drawing and ‘daydreaming’, and spend more time concentrating on ‘more important’ lessons. But the little girl knew that it was her destiny to make other people smile with her storytelling and her illustrations.
She left school and studied art very very hard. She painted and drew, drew and painted ………………………until one day………………… she became so covered in paint and ink, that people called her ‘Inky’. And she looked in the mirror and saw that she had become a grown-up, fully fledged children’s illustrator and author.
Inky Paige is now living her dream, delighting people young and old (and everyone in-between) with her charming characters and engaging stories. She currently travels around Europe with her partner in a motorhome called Tally, which is her home and studio.

Inky Paige has decades of experience across many mediums of art. Whilst Inky Paige is now known for her colourful, fun and charming children’s illustrations, she previously spent 15 years as a custom tattoo artist. She gained a huge following for her nature inspired watercolour style tattoos. This period formed her into the disciplined children’s book illustrator she is today. Learning how to create designs according to the client’s brief but ultimately going above and beyond their expectations. It also helped shape Inky’s style today.
Inky says, ‘Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed the creative process of designing a client’s tattoo, and felt honoured to be trusted enough to permanently ink a person’s skin, I still had a deep longing to answer the call to make children smile. One day I hung up my machines and dedicated myself full-time to my career as an illustrator. I am deeply grateful for those years and those clients.’
Inky Paige’s passion and commitment to the craft of story telling, like the charming lively characters she creates, is clear whenever invited to talk about it.
‘Imagine being told as a child, by a magical old wise woman, that when you grew up you’d be an astronaut or a mermaid. That’s how I feel about my career as an illustrator. I pinch myself daily. I’m often found grinning into my cup of tea for (seemingly) no apparent reason.’
